I applied through their website and met with an internal recruiter via Zoom. I was asked to perform a writing task. Once complete I was asked to fly out to California and present the material to the team. I spent one night in a hotel and a full day interviewing with five engineers. They paid for me to fly out and stay. I toured the facilities. Within a week of my visit the recruiter reached out with an offer.
Offer and Negotiation Experience
I emailed back and forth with the recruiter once the offer was in. I stressed the difference in cost of living in L.A. versus Houston. I wasn't asking for more money than I currently made. I was asking for SpaceX to cover the taxes that California charges.
